Rehabilitation of MT Sangara
Comprehensive rehabilitation of the fuel tanker MT Sangara — steelwork, painting and machinery restoration under one contract.
MT Sangara required a comprehensive overhaul to restore operational efficiency and bring the vessel back to modern maritime standards. Aquarian delivered the rehabilitation as a single multi-discipline contract covering three areas of work: structural steelwork and alteration, a full protective coating system, and restoration of the vessel's machinery.
Scope delivered
- Steelwork — structural survey, hull plate renewal, structural steel repair and alteration of structure
- Painting — surface preparation, blast cleaning and a full marine coating system (anti-corrosive primer, intermediate and topcoats, boot-topping and underwater hull)
- Machine restoration — engine room and machinery inspection, overhaul and restoration of propulsion and auxiliary systems
- Piping and systems repair
- Sea trial support and documented handover
Outcome
The vessel returned to operational service on Lake Tanganyika.
