Naval architecture and marine design
Design decisions made on paper determine whether a vessel is safe, efficient and economical to run for the next twenty years. Our naval architecture work is led by a registered Professional Engineer and grounded in the operating reality of Tanzania's lakes — the loading patterns, the weather, the ports, and the maintenance capability actually available.
What we do
- Vessel design — hull form, general arrangement and structural design for workboats, fishing craft, pontoons, barges and small commercial vessels
- Structural analysis — assessment of hull and structural members under operating loads, including damaged-condition assessment
- Stability assessment — intact and damage stability analysis, loading conditions and operational limits
- Repair and conversion engineering — engineered solutions for structural repair, modification, lengthening and change of service
- Technical drawings and documentation — fabrication drawings, structural details and supporting calculations for construction and for regulatory submission
Design that gets built
Because we also fabricate, our drawings are made by people who will have to work to them. Plate sizes reflect what can actually be sourced in Mwanza; details reflect what can be welded in the position the fabricator will be standing in; sequences reflect the lifting equipment likely to be on site. Design produced in isolation from the workshop generates variations. Design produced next to it does not.
